Dublin skipper out for the season

Dublin's Paul Griffin
Dublin captain Paul Griffin looks likely to miss the remainder of the 2010 season after it was confirmed he suffered cruciate ligament damage during last Saturday's win over Monaghan.

Griffin was introduced as a second-half substitute during the game at Parnell Park and had been only on the field around ten minutes when Paul Finlay landed on his left knee, after the Dublin player had just claimed a mark.

Initially it was thought that Griffin suffered no serious ligament damage, but further tests have revealed he is set to miss the remainder of the Dubs' NFL campaign as well as the championship.

Griffin becomes the second Kilmacud Crokes player in two seasons to suffer a serious knee injury, as Mark Davoren's playing year was also ended prematurely after an injury in the Leinster quarter=final win over Meath 10 months ago.
