Leinster U21FC: Carlow maul lowly Cats

March 11, 2010
Carlow 1-16
Kilkenny 0-3

Carlow cruised into the semi-finals of the Cadbury Leinster Under 21 Football Championship last night after seeing off Kilkenny with a massive 16 points to spare at O'Moore Park.

After taking the lead inside the opening minute through their dominant midfielder Brendan Murphy, Carlow would ease into a comfortable 0-9 to 0-2 half-time lead as Murtagh Ware, Martin Clowry and Denis Murphy all got in on the act of raising the white flag.

Kilkenny's scores in the first-half came from Paddy Naughton and Kieran Bergin as they looked to keep their side within some sort of touching distance, but when Denis Murphy fired to the Cats' net in the 43rd minute Luke Dempsey's side were as good as through to their last four meeting with Dublin.
