Collins handed Galway start

February 25, 2010

Former Galway hurling captain David Collins
David Collins will start Galway's Division One NHL match against Waterford on Sunday.

The former Tribesmen captain made a late substitute's appearance in the win over Limerick last weekend, but hasn't started an intercounty game in over two years.

During that time, he was sidelined with a severe ankle injury that threatened to end his career.

In total, John McIntyre makes five changes from last weekend.

Collins comes in at wing back in place of Kevin Hynes while Iarlath Tannion starts at corner forward ahead of Portumna's Niall Hayes (who's preparing for the All-Ireland club final).

Colm Callanan again replaces James Skehill in goal and Fergal Moore replaces Pat Holland at corner back, while Niall Healy comes in for David Burke at top of the left.

Galway (NHL v Waterford): C Callanan; D Joyce, S Kavanagh, F Moore; D Barry, T Og Regan, D Collins; G Farragher, N Cahalan; A Callanan, C Donnellan, A Harte; I Tannian, J Gantley, N Healy.
