Leinster U21FC: Louth brush Wexford aside

February 21, 2010
Louth 4-16
Wexford 0-8

Louth recovered from a sluggish start to hammer Wexford in Saturday's Cadbury Leinster U21FC opener at Dundalk.

The visitors scored the first two points, but the Wee County never looked back after Derek Maguire's fifth minute goal gave them the lead for the first time. Louth tagged on several points before Paraic Smith hit a second goal to ease them into a 2-9 to 0-4 lead at the break.

The second half was even more one-sided as Louth cruised to a quarter-final meeting with holders Dublin. The home side were awarded two penalties, both of which were successfully converted by Jim McEneaney, son of former senior manager and Monaghan star Eamonn.
