Reidy not counting chickens
February 09, 2010
Ger Reidy knows he has plenty of work to do if he's to become Diarmuid Murphy's successor.
The Castleisland Desmonds stopper got the nod to play between the posts for the Kingdom in the McGrath Cup final and again for last weekend's league opener against Dublin, but he believes there's a battle on to become first choice 'keeper:
"There's huge competition there and I'm just taking every game as it comes.
"Reading the newspapers and listening to people you'd think Ger Reidy is going to have it, but that's not the case.
"The two boys - Brendan Kealy and Tomás Mac an tSaoi - are two outstanding goalkeepers. As far I'm concerned that jersey is up for grabs between us all.
"It's nice to have my foot in the door but there's no guarantee it'll stay there."
