NFL 3: Wee men edge out Wexford

February 07, 2010
Louth 0-13
Wexford 1-8

Louth continued their good start to the season by seeing off provincial rivals Wexford with two points to spare in the NFL Division Three yesterday at Drogheda.

Peter Fitzpatrick's team were inspired by their forward pairing of Colm Judge and Brian White, as well midfielder Ronan Carroll, who all helped the hosts take in a 0-6 to 0-5 lead at the break.

In the second-half, Louth went about building on the lead via the points of Judge and Carroll to move five clear before Paddy Byrne crashed a goal chance for Wexford, who badly missed Mattie Forde and PJ Banville, off the crossbar.

With ten minutes remaining Model substitutes Ciaran Lyng and Eric Bradley made an impact, as Bradley sent over a quick points and Lyng set-up Byrne to punch to the net and cut the deficit to just one.

The next score would be vital and it came in Louth's favour as Judge sent over his fourth score of the day, demonstrating his ruthless accuracy in doing so to hand both points to the Wee County.
