O'Sullivan sad to see namesake go

Kerry's Darran O'Sullivan
10 December 2009

Kerry captain Darran O'Sullivan admits that it will be strange feeling attending training next year without his good friend and former teammate Sean O'Sullivan.

The latter announced his decision to retire from the county scene earlier in the week to add to the exile of Tadgh Kennelly and Tommy Walsh.

O'Sullivan has been an integral part of the squad during this decade and many tributes have been paid to him from his team mates including the 2009 Kerry captain.

"Sean and myself would be very close off the field and he has been a big help to me since I have been with Kerry," said Darron. "Obviously his skill and his type of play will be a huge loss to Kerry but on a personal level, he was such a lively fella and I don't think anyone would have a bad word to say about him.

"He is a great guy and we will miss having him around. It will be hard going into training and not having him inside there. If Sean is playing you know that you are going to get 100 per cent. He just has that touch of class about him. He is one of the best kickers around; absolute class."
