Leinster MHC: Kehoe inspires Cats

July 06, 2009
Sean Kehoe hit 0-11 as All-Ireland champions Kilkenny retained their ESB Leinster MHC title with an empathic victory over Wexford at Croke Park. Kilkenny..1-19 Wexford0-11 Tom Dempsey's Wexford side were just five points adrift at half-time, 0-8 to 1-10, but it was all Kilkenny in the second half as they powered into the All-Ireland semi-final. A Ger Aylward goal after just three minutes gave the Cats the perfect start, and six points from centre forward Kehoe had them in the driving seat at the interval, despite having played against the wind. Wexford, for who Laim Og McGovern, Diarmuid O'Keeffe and Paraic Farrell were particularly prominently, were still five points in arrears 12 minutes into the second half, 0-11 to 1-13, but in the remaining 18 minutes, the Cats hit six unanswered points to run out comfortable winners. Wexford will get another chance in the All-Ireland quarter-final.
