Kingdom to appoint full-time secretary
July 01, 2009
Kerry are set to become the latest county to appoint a full-time secretary to help run their affairs.
The Kingdom are the only county in Munster not to have a paid secretary, but that's all about to change following a proposal at this week's county board meeting in Ballyduff.
Pending authorisation from Croke Park, the process will require a bye-law change at county convention in December. The full time post is partly funded by Croke Park and the contract of employment will be for seven years.
"The workload of a county secretary is now phenomenal and is getting more onerous by the week," Kerry chairman Jerome Conway said.
"Currently, Peter Twiss is trying to hold down a full-time job and also do his duties as the county secretary."
