McEneaney fuming over fixture clash

June 06, 2009
Louth manager Eamonn McEneaney has hit out at the Leinster Council after a request to postpone next Wednesday's Leinster JFC clash with Dublin was turned down. Failure to have the game moved to another date means Louth will have 11 players involved in two inter-county games within the space of five days with the seniors facing Laois in the Leinster SFC quarter-final the following Sunday. McEneaney, who manages both sides, explained that he immediately lodged a request to have the junior game postponed after Louth's 3-15 to 3-5 first round victory over Cavan. "They referred it to the Dublin county board, who had all their fixtures made out in a masterplan from earlier in the year. They were reluctant to move the match, and I understand that," he said. "But from a Leinster Council point of view, I would be asking the question: how can they say they are promoting football properly if they're asking you to play on a Wednesday night in the championship and again on a Sunday? I don't think it's fair."
