Betting: Mayo men to score against Mayo?
May 06, 2009
Ladbrokes.com have produced an interesting special market which is sure to add a little extra spice to this weekend's opening match of the All-Ireland SFC.
New York host Mayo and as ever the bookmakers have decided that jet lag will be no impediment to the visit Connacht side running up a big score. The difference this year is that Mayo will be facing up to four of their own countymen in this clash - including the statesiders' team captain Robert Moran.
Punters at Ladbrokes.com can speculate on how many points the Mayo ex-pats will record against their former neighbours in their innovative 'Mayo - a - Mayo' special.
"There's no shortage of interest in the annual trip across the Atlantic from GAA fans and punters, but with such a gulf in ability between the two sides it tends to take the edge of it as a betting event. Our special on the ex-pats performance, and the 18 point spread we've posted on the game should hopefully give our punters plenty to think about," said Neil Walsh of Ladbrokes.com.
