Munster MFC: O'Connor inspires Kingdom

April 16, 2009
Eanna O'Connor maintained his rich vein of form when scoring 1-5 for holders Kerry in last night's ESB Munster MFC first round win over Tipperary at Semple Stadium. Kerry 1-11 Tipperary 1-6 Fresh from scoring a last-gasp winning goal for Colaiste na Sceilge in last Saturday's Hogan Cup final against St. Mary's, Edenderry, the son of Kerry senior boss Jack O'Connor was once again in scintillating form as the Kingddom cruised into the semi-finals. O'Shea, along with fellow full forwards Niall O'Shea and Donal O'Sullivan, scored their side's combined first half total as the visitors took a 1-7 to 0-4 lead into the interval. Tipperary scored just 1-1 from play over the 60 minutes with their goal coming from substitute Johnny McMahon in injury-time. Kerry paraded seven of Colaiste na Sceilge's All-Ireland Colleges winning side over the hour, and they showed no ill-effects as they advanced to a semi-final on May 13.
