U21FC: Mayo retain Connacht crown

Mayo notched a fourth successive Connacht Under-21 title at the expense of Sligo on Saturday. Mayo 3-14 Sligo 1-8 The holders' crown never looked in doubt at Markievicz Park as they strolled to a 12-point successive over the Yeats County. There were six points in it at the break (1-10 to 1-4) with Jason Doherty hitting the net for Mayo after Stephen Coen had briefly given Sligo hope with the first three-pointer of the game. Neil Douglas and Mikey Sweeney struck further goals after the break and Doherty was in excellent point-scoring form to ease the passage of the Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes-managed side into the All-Ireland semi-finals.
