Ulster U21FC: Armagh power into final

April 02, 2009
Armagh produced a dominant second half performance to overwhelm Donegal in last night's Cadbury Ulster under 21 football semi-final at Ballybofey. Armagh1-10 Donegal.0-6 Trailing by 0-4 to 0-5 at half-time, the Orchard County came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half to power into the final against Down. Full forward Stefan Forker was a constant thorn in the side of the Donegal defence, with four of his five points coming from play. The early exchanges were close with Jamie Clarke nudging the visitors ahead by the 20th minute. But two points from senior star Michael Murphy and another from Eoin Wade gave Donegal a slender lead at the break. Within five minutes of the restart, however, Armagh had surged into a 1-6 to 0-5 lead thanks to a goal from Mark Shields and a brace of points from Forker, and the outcome was never in any doubt after that.
