Laois inflicted a 1-18 to 1-4 defeat on Wicklow in the Cadbury Leinster U21 to reverse the result between the sides in last year's campaign. On that occasion, Wicklow had eleven points to spare over the O'Moore County, but 12 months is a long time at under-21 level and this Laois side will be eyeing provincial glory. Laois lead by 0-6 to 1-1 at half time after Tomas Kelly had given them an early lead, but with Donie Kingston in excellent form and the introduction of John O'Loughlin in the second half, Laois pulled away to win comfortably.
