Leinster U21FC: Champs cruise through

Defending Cadbury Leinster under-21 football champions Kildare eased into the semi-finals following a 4-13 to 0-6 rout of Carlow. The Lilywhites got off to the perfect start when Conor Mellett rattled the net after just 18 seconds and this was to set the tone for the remainder of the match. To make matters worse for Carlow, Niall Hurley-Lynch also raised a green flag for the defending champions inside the first minute of the match. Hurley-Lynch scored his second midway through the half, and then inspirational captain Eoghan O'Flaherty scored the fourth before the interval. Playing with a strong breeze behind then in the second half, Kildare pushed on and kicked some fine points as Carlow put in a disappointing display.
