Kearney appointment hits the right tone for Fechins

November 20, 2008
The appointment of Tony Kearney as manager represents a major coup for Louth club St Fechins. The Mayo native enjoyed extraordinary success with Meath side Wolfe Tones, winning county junior, intermediate and senior championships in a blistering four-year period. If he experiences even a quarter of that success (16 trophies in nine years!) with his new club, then St Fechins will be absolutely delighted. Looking forward to his new appointment in the Wee County, the Carlanstown NS principal said: "I'm not expecting anything like what happened in Wolfe Tones, but if we could win a championship in two or three years I would consider that a success. "It's a new beginning; it's a challenge. I've met the chairman a while back and I've seen their underage teams on a few occasions and they have some nice footballers."
