Neary hails troops

November 13, 2008
Glenealy manager Mick Neary heaped praise on his team's performance in retaining the county hurling title following the win over Carnew last weekend. Despite, unkind weather conditions that threatened the actual existence of the game, Glenealy battled bravely to record a six-point win over their fierce rivals. Neary was obviously over the moon to record the win, but admitted that he was disappointed that they hadn't more time to prepare for the club championship. "Conditions were very difficult. But we are really happy to put back-to-back championships together. It's a sign of a very good team to do it twice. Neither club had done it in a long time. We are just very happy," said Neary. "We are disappointed that we only had a short break between the county final and the next day's Leinster club championship match. From a personal point of view, I want to thank the people who worked with these players all the way up. I have only been involved in the last two years."
