Greene lets fly
November 13, 2008
Despite last ditch talks to resolve his differences with the County Board, Carlow hurling manager Jim Greene will not be remaining at the helm for another year.
Greene is disappointed with the lack of cooperation that he feels he received from the county board and the Waterford native felt he had no other option, but to resign.
Nonetheless, Greene had the final word on the subject and was none too flattering about the Carlow County Board, who he believes are not interested in the future of hurling in the county.
"The directive from Croke Park left it open to have meetings. There were ways to get around it, but as far as I'm concerned the atmosphere was different. I felt that there was a lack of appreciation for what the players and management had achieved," said Greene.
"I'm devastated and heartbroken for a players' point of view. I won't miss the hierarchy but the players are a marvellous bunch. I don't think they or us realised what they are capable of."
