Donard/Glen camogie girls rounded off their most successful year yet with a hard fought win over Junior Champions Glenealy in Glenmalure on Sunday 2nd Nov. Indeed many spectators at this match felt this game was more suited to a Senior Championship final as Glenealy led for most of the match and really put it up to the Donard girls who although they were short quite a few players had to dig deep to pull this game out of the fire. In the end though the experienced and determined Donard girls were not going to be outdone and they came away winners with 4 points to spare: 2-8 to 1-7 Best for Glenealy were Laura Manley, Pamela Maher, Catriona Kavanagh and their goalkeeper Nicola Newsome had an excellent game. For Donard/Glen Gemma O'Neill has to be awarded player of the match notching up a personal tally of 1-8 while Eve Whyte, Mary O'Neill and Dearbhla O'Byrne were very solid in defence, with Karen Walshe, Breda Walshe and Nora O'Neill putting constant pressure on the Glenealy back line forcing them to give away free after free.
