Nicks have no Leinster fear
October 24, 2008
As they prepare to embark on their first Leinster club campaign, St Nicholas are ready to give a good account of themselves.
The Louth JFC winners open their knockout programme away to Westmeath champions St Mary's, Rochfortbridge this weekend and manager Hugh Downey is optimistic:
"It's new to us to be playing at this time of year but I watched the Westmeath final and the standard was lower than I thought it would be. They have a good corner forward and a strong midfield, but we certainly have nothing to fear.
"I don't know if having home advantage will have much of a bearing, but we are well capable of beating them and everyone is in a positive frame of mind.
"There's no Meath or Dublin teams in our side of the draw and I would imagine the hardest round to get over is the first one."
