Connacht to decide on hurling manager

October 16, 2008
The Connacht Council have been given the task of choosing a manager for the province's team to play Leinster in Saturday week's Inter-provincial hurling semi-final. Traditionally, the Galway hurling manager has taken charge of the provincial side but the sacking of Ger Loughnane has left them managerless. Galway will provide the bulk, if not all, of the Connacht team to face Leinster on Saturday week in Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon. Galway hurling board chairman Miko Ryan explained: "We will be leaving it to the Connacht Council to choose the manager. It's their function." The manager is still likely to come from Galway with under 21 boss Vincent Mullins a possible candidate for the position.
