Laois star Michael John Tierney will return from Hong Kong to line out for his club Ballyroan Abbey in this weekend's county intermediate football final against Park/Ratheniska. The highly-rated forward, who was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award in 2007, took up a temporary teaching post in the Asian outpost shortly after Laois' exit from the All-Ireland championship this summer, but is set to return ahead of schedule as Ballyroan attempt to return to the senior ranks at the first attempt. Ballyroan secretary Jim Whelan said: "All going well, he'll be home on Friday night. He hasn't been gone that long so we wouldn't have any concerns over his fitness." Whelan refused to confirm whether he would go straight back into the starting XV, but it's hard to see how a player of his calibre could be left on the sideline. The ace free-taker won't exactly be out of practice either, having lined out for Hong Kong in the recently held Asian finals in Malaysia where he played a starring role in their defeat of Singapore.
