Ferriter added to selection committee
October 10, 2008
Former county and Ulster star Sean Ferriter has joined the sub-committee that will select the next Donegal senior football manager.
Ferriter, who played for Donegal and Ulster during the 1960s and 1970s, will link up with county chairman Sean Kelly, secretary Charlie O'Donnell, treasurer Charlie Cannon and vice-chairman PJ McGowan on the five-man committee charged with the task of finding a successor to Brian McIver.
The county board officials were selected at last week's county committee meeting at which it was also decided to have an independent person with no ties to the county board, and with a strong GAA background, on the selection committee.
And Ferriter quite clearly fits the bill, having also been part of Brian McEniff's backroom team when Donegal won the All-Ireland title in 1992.
Chairman Sean Kelly said: "We are delighted to have Sean Ferriter on the selection committee and we are really thrilled to have someone of his calibre to assist in the filling of the positions.
"He is a highly respected figure in Donegal GAA circles and has a wealth of experience both as a player and a mentor and he had no hesitation of getting involved when we asked him to do so."
