Padraig Pearses Ladies Senior Football Championship Final:
Pearses 1-4 St Brigids 2-8
A youthful Pearses Ladies Senior Football team put up a brave display over a strong St Brigids side in last Saturdays final played in dreadful conditions in Knockrochery. Playing into a strong breeze Brigids raced into a 1-3 to 0-0 lead but three Stephanie Carty points kept Pearses in touch to leave the half-time score Brigids 1-4 Pearses 0-3. Pearses started the second half with a fine goal from Helen Kenny to leave the bare minimum between the sides but Brigids responded immediately with a goal of their own and despite a brave Pearses performance they held on for victory.
This was a fine effort from Padraig Kellys side and as a young team will only improve over the coming years. The ladies would like to thank the catering committee for the food provided on the night and to Kevin Flynn for the transport to and from the pitch.
