Bradley out of Derry running
October 07, 2008
Liam Bradley has reportedly withdrawn his candidacy to become the next Derry football manager, leaving just Damien Cassidy, John Brennan and Brian McGilligan in the running.
Bradley, father of Derry stars Paddy and Eoin, is believed to have opted out after learning that Glenullin manager Kevin Madden has agreed to work alongside Damien Cassidy as team trainer in the event of the Bellaghy man getting the job.
Bradley had approached Madden to act in an even more senior role, effectively as part of a joint-management ticket, but the former Antrim forward preferred to throw his lot in with Cassidy.
Madden, who had worked alongside Bradley last year when the latter managed Glenullin to their first Derry SFC title since 1985, apparently felt he wouldn't be able to give the necessary amount of time to the role being offered by Bradley, but would be in a position to commit to the less-demanding role offered by Cassidy.
Interviews for all the Oak Leaf inter-county management positions, in both football and hurling, will take place over the next two nights.
