'Mulvihill - a unique person' says McGill
October 05, 2008
The GAA's new Operations Manager Feargal McGill says he has come to appreciate the work done by former Director General Liam Mulvihill even more since he himself was handed some of Mulvihill's erstwhile brief.
McGill fills a new position since his move from the press office six months ago and it has given him an insight into the volume of work done by the Longford native during his time at the helm.
"Operations manager is a new position within the GAA," McGill explained. "I think it's a reflection of how the GAA has changed over the years.
"There is a huge expanse of work involved in the job, and a lot of late nights but I'm delighted to be in the position.
"The job will basically see me working with the Director General Pauric Duffy, overseeing all the operations of the GAA - a shadow Director General if you like.
"Liam Mulvihill did all the work himself when he was here, but he was a unique person.
