Morrissey hails players

Tipperary ladies football manager Paddy Morrissey has paid tribute to the effort and dedication that his charges showed throughout the campaign. Tipp lifted the ladies intermediate football championship title at the expense of Clare last weekend for the first time in their history and although Morrissey received a lot of plaudits after the game, he stressed that it was the girls that won it. "It was 29 women and the three of us and there was some training and commitment with girls travelling from college in Cork, Limerick and Dublin, while others worked in Nenagh and Roscrea," said Morrissey, who is now planning for life in the senior ranks. "The point about senior is that Cork are miles better than anyone else, a bit like Kilkenny in the hurling. There's another group with the likes of Mayo and Monaghan, but in the league in the last year or two, we've been well capable of beating Down and Donegal, senior teams and there's not much between a lot of them."
