New delay in Meath managerial appointment

October 01, 2008
The Meath county board have postponed their monthly board meeting by seven days, further delaying the announcement of the county's new senior manager to replace Colm Coyle. The ratification of a new Meath manager was due to take place at the September board meeting but was put back by a month to the scheduled October meeting this coming Monday. However, that has now been put back seven days until October 13, which is the new date that the clubs of the county will be asked to ratify the chosen candidate as the Meath senior football manager. Luke Dempsey's name has been mentioned in connection with the job in recent weeks and while the former Westmeath, Carlow and Longford boss is thought to be keen on the role, Eamonn O'Brien remains the favourite. The fact that the monthly board meeting has been postponed until the day after the county senior final between Navan O'Mahonys and Summerhill, will lead some to believe that O'Mahony's manager Sean Kelly may be part of the backroom team, and the announcement is being held back to avoid disrupting his side's preparations for the Keegan Cup decider.
