Derry manager's race reduced to four
October 01, 2008
Just four candidates remain in the race to succeed Paddy Crozier as Derry football manager after both John McCloskey and Tony Scullion ruled themselves out of contention.
McCloskey, who was the team's physical trainer this year and had previously fulfilled a similar role with Armagh, was thought to have significant support from the players, but has decided not to put his name forward. As a full-time employee of the Ulster Council, former star corner back Scullion has not been given the green light by the provincial body to combine both roles.
Damien Cassidy, Liam Bradley, outgoing hurling boss Brian McGilligan and John Brennan are left as the remaining candidates.
