GLASDRUMMAN CLOSE OUT GLENN
Glasdrumman 3-14
Glenn 1-11
Glenn visited the Quarter Road on Saturday evening looking to avenge their home defeat earlier in the year, and they started well with a good point from Darren Bagnall in the third minute.
Glasdrumman replied with a Raymond Magorrian point but Glenn added two further points from Damien O'Hara and Cathal Murtagh to go back in front. Glasdrumman levelled the scores again with points from Raymond Magorrian and Connaire Harrison only to see Damien O'Hara and Darren Bagnall edge Glenn ahead again midway though the half. Glasdrumman finally settled into the game with points from Cormac Murphy and Colum Carr to bring them level yet again and when Cormac Murphy found the back of the Glenn net they found themselves in front for the first time in the game. Raymond Magorrian added a second goal with three minutes to half time to give Glasdrumman some breathing space, but Glenn replied with two points from Colm Murtagh and Darren Bagnall, split by a point from Connaire Harrison to leave the score at half time Glasdrumman 2-6 Glenn 0-7.
Glasdrumman made their intentions known immediately with a well taken point from Connaire Harrison straight from the throw in. Although Damien O'Hara replied with a point for Glenn, Glasdrumman were beginning to take control of the play and points from Colum Carr, Martin O'Neill and Raymond Magorrian increased their lead to eight points with twenty minutes remaining. Glenn looked to be edging their way back into the game with two points from Mark Lennon and Brian Convery but a slick move upfield involving Raymond Magorrian and Raymond Clarke resulted in Connaire Harrison netting for Glasdrumman's third goal in the forty fifth minute. Glasdrumman pushed on and points from Raymond Magorrian and Raymond Clarke extended their lead to eleven points with ten minutes to go. Glenn to their credit kept plugging away and were rewarded with another point from Damien O'Hara and their only goal of the evening from Sean Doran. Glasdrumman scored two final points from Darren Joyce and Cormac Murphy in the closing minutes of the game to leave the final score Glasdrumman 3-14 Glenn 1-11.
Sean Cunningham had a good game in goals, the full back line of Ryan Doran, Francis O'Neill and Kevin Burns all made important interceptions throughout the game including a couple on the goal line. The half back line of Martin O'Neill, Art McCartan and Mark Trimble made some notable forays upfield and supported well the midfield pairing of Colm Gribben and Pat Mallon. Pat Mallon restored to his more familiar role made some great catches in midfield and pushed the play forward, backed up by Colm Gribben.
The half forwad line of Cormac Murphy, Raymond Clarke and Colum Carr linked up well with the full forwards and midfield all adding important scores to the result. The full forward line of Raymond Magorrian, Darren Joyce and Connaire Harrison caused the Glenn defence problems every time the ball came their way and also all added their names to the scoresheet. Another good all round team performance from Glasdrumman who will look to take this form into the promotion play-offs.
