Derry SHC: Kelly strike proves the difference for Lynch's

September 29, 2008
Kevin Lynch's 1-12 Swatragh 0-12 Kevin Lynch's clinched their third successive Derry Senior Hurling crown when they registered a three-point win over Swatragh at Celtick Park on Sunday afternoon. Feidhlim Kelly's low strike on five minutes that raised the game's only green flag could have been cancelled out by Ruairi Convery, but his penalty was brilliantly stopped by 'keeper Brian Lagan. Scores were fired back and forth over the next 20 minutes for Lynch's to take in a 1-7 to 0-6 lead a half-time. Ruairi Convery helped himself to 0-9 over the hour, which always kept his side in contention, but Ryan O'Kane, Fergal McGuigan and Kevin Hinphey all registered the points that saw the Dungiven club to their 20th senior county title in the hurling code.
