Larries still on cue for another senior final

September 26, 2008
St. Laurence's had a typically championship win over Carbury in their quarterfinal encounter at midday in Newbridge last Sunday winning by five points yet they will be acutely aware that much more in terms of performance will be required in order to succeed in the semi-final and ultimately in the final. Carbury provided stern opposition throughout the game and in particular during the opening half and it was perhaps the additional forward options that the winners had that made all the difference. At times the defeated side were quite wasteful in their shooting. While the final score-line read 1-13 to 1-8 there was parity with only one minute remaining in normal game time. As the challengers made up-field movement a brilliant and timely block down by Pauric Kearney set up a move for Shaun Fahey to feed Ronan Lawlor to strike home the killer blow. Fahey and Barry Mackey with a free completed the account and thus guaranteed passage onwards.
