Raymond wins top award
September 25, 2008
Sligo hurler Keith Raymond was the toast of the county when he helped the county win the Nicky Rackard Cup in Croke Park and now the talented youngster has been honoured on the provincial front.
Raymond scored 1-8 from play as Sligo defeated Louth in the final last August to lift the title for the first time in Sligo's history and his performances throughout the campaign were one of the reasons for the success.
The Sligo hurler was awarded with the Connacht GAA Writers Personality of the Month award for August following his impressive display in the final.
Galway footballer Michael Meehan also shared in the award after his ten point haul against Kerry in the All-Ireland quarterfinal, also at Croke Park.
