Sligo leave options open

September 25, 2008
Sligo county board could still look beyond the three nominated candidates for the vacant football manager's post. Luke Dempsey, Pat Kilcoyne and Anthony Brennan were nominated to succeed Tommy Jordan in the position at the last county board meeting, but Sligo chairman John Murphy has refused to rule out the possibility of more candidates entering the race. He said: "We still have the authority to look beyond the three nominated men. "It is still very early stages in our search and we are still looking around, we just have the sub-committee set up and they will go about appointing the right man." Former Longford and Westmeath manager Dempsey is favourite to land the job, though it's unclear if he would be prepared to make the long journey from Mullingar for training sessions.
