O'Keeffe queries Kerry's mental strength

Kerry legend Ger O'Keeffe has questioned the Kingdom's mental strength after their latest high-profile defeat to Tyrone. O'Keeffe, who was a selector alongside Jack O'Connor when the Kingdom won All-Ireland titles in 2004 and '06, believes the county's players must become more ruthless when they get into winning positions. "On a number of occasions this year, Kerry lost leads. They must be more decisive and they have to become more ruthless in their attitude," he said. "Tyrone are very strong mentally and they thrive in adversity. They seem to have had a greater mental strength in games against Kerry." Despite presiding over last Sunday's All-Ireland final defeat, Pat O'Shea has done a fine job with Kerry in O'Keeffe's view. "Pat has a difficult job marrying his job as a Munster Council coach with training and coaching Kerry. It must be tough on him. We all have breaks and while Jack O'Connor was a teacher and could go back, Pat is working in football all of the time. He puts everything into it."
