September 23, 2008
London county camogie champions Fr Murphy's, made history by becoming
the first London team to advance in the club championship
on Saturday last they travelled to Dunlavin and took on Wicklow
champions Donards Glen, in what turned out to be a fine game.
Donards Glen had two points on the board early on which were soon
cancelled out by Murphy's Laureena Murphy, with the score standing at
4points to 2 in their favour
Donards Glen struck back to goal through Geraldine Norton, a lead that
was short lived as Ciara O Donnell oaled for the Murphy to regain a
lead they were never to loose the half time score 1-06 to 1-04.
Straight after the break Laureena Murphy, smashed the sliothar to the
net, to make the score 2-06 to 1-04, with Grainne Hunter and Katie
McCauley striking the ball firmly Murphy's were in control, with Ruth
Foley getting through a fierce amount of work in midfield, the backs
were all good and played totally as a unit.
At the very end Emma Taylor flicked a cross field pass from Laureena
Murphy to the Donards Glen net to make the final score Fr Murphy's 3.10
Donards Glen 1.08"
