Gaeil Fhanda Gaeil Fhanda U14 girls travelled to Milford on Saturday last and in front of a large band of loyal and enthusiastic supporters beat St Eunans to win the county U14 B Final. Although it was St Eunans who got off to a good start with a goal in the opening minutes of the game the Fanad girls took time to settle and with the wind at their backs they started taking scores well. However they were hit with a harsh penalty decision and it is a testimony to their commitment and determination that they fought back to be 2 points up at half time, Fanad 2-3, St Eunans 2-1. The introduction of Natasha McElwaine to the Fanad side for the second half strengthened their mid-field and they enjoyed long spells of possession while unlucky at times with wide shots and frantic St Eunans defending. With some excellent free taking and another goal the Fanad girls clinched the title in the last minutes of the game with a final score of Fanad 3-5, St Eunans 3-4.A huge team effort and a fantastic achievement for the girls in only their second year playing competitive football, Congratulations >from everyone at the Club and involved with underage football in the parish to all the players and to manager Shaun Howe and all his backroom staff.
