Naomh Pádraig club notes
September 23, 2008
The numbers drawn in this week's lotto draw were 6, 7, 3, 1, 4, 2 and 5. There was no jackpot winner however ?100 runner-up prize went to Mary Teresa Toye, Cross. Next week's jackpot will be ?1850.
The Seniors had a free weekend past as it was All-Ireland weekend which saw Tyrone bring Sam North once again. The Seniors did however play away to neighbours Moville last week in a challenge game. Naomh Pádraig produced a great first half in which goals from Aidan Lynch and Ciaran Harrigan meant they held a 2-08 to 0-06 lead at the break. However the visitors were unable to reproduce the good form of the first half and Moville came back into the game strongly but were unable to close the gap as Naomh Pádraig held on for a one-point victory. Training continues this week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.15pm.
The Senior ladies were back in action at the weekend when Glenties were the visitors to Ture. Unfortunately the westerners were much too strong for Naomh Pádraig and they ran out easy winners in the end.
The club will be hosting an U10 Inishowen Blitz at Ture on Saturday 27th September beginning at 10 am. All parents are especially welcome to stay and support the teams.
Underage Hurling training will also continue on Saturday and starts at 10.30 am.
The U13's defeated Malin last Saturday on a scoreline of 4-12 to 6-00. They continue their Inishowen campaign on Tuesday evening when they host Buncrana in Ture. A bus will leave Clar at 5pm and will also stop at St. Mary's Hall at 5.15pm. Throw in for the game is 6pm.
The club will hold a Scór na nÓg trial on Sunday 12th October in the clubhouse at 4pm. The competition is confined to children from the parish aged between 9 - 16 years. For more information, please contact Eileen McLaughlin on 07493 83312.
The Parish League for 6 - 12 year olds will commence again on Sunday 28th September and runs from 12.30pm to 1.45pm. A bus costing ?2 will leave Clar at 12pm and will also stop at St. Mary's Hall at 12.20pm. Any adults that have completed the Foundation Coaching course and especially parents are encouraged to come along to assist and lend your support.
The clubs annual Night of the Races will take place in Mary Deeney's on Friday 24th October. Horses will be on sale from Club Members for ?10 while race sponsors will also be required. Anyone interested in sponsoring a race can arrange this with any committee member, and as always all support greatly appreciated.
Finally there are a very limited number of Donegal Yearbooks still for sale. This award winning publication gives an excellent account of Donegal GAA, especially its coverage of the clubs. Its well worth ?15 and can be purchased from any committee member. There are also one or two Kit Bags remaining and these are priced at ?25.
As always, check out www.naomhpadraig.com for all the club news online.
