Sligo SFC: Harps triumph at second attempt

September 22, 2008
Last year's runners-up Eastern Harps are back in the Sligo SFC final following their 1-13 to 2-9 semi-final replay victory over Curry. The Taylor brothers, Paul and Tony, scored half of their tally as the Harps finished strongly to qualify for the decider. The outscored Curry by 0-4 to 0-2 in the closing quarter, with Paul Taylor's sixth score just edging them over the line. A replay will also be required to decide the other semi-final following Saturday's 0-11 each draw between Coolera-Strandhill and Tubbercurry at Markievicz Park. Alan Costello's two pointed frees in the last five minutes earned Coolera-Strandhill a second chance after Nicky Rackard Cup winner Paul Severs and top scorer Colm McGee missed chances for Tubbercurry.
