Kilmore GAA Notes
September 22, 2008
Pride of the parish this weeks goes to the National Automation sponsored minor team who qualified for their 2nd county final in a row by defeating a strong Ballinameen team on Saturday. Kilmore started the stronger but it was Ballinameen who led at half time by 2 points. But the Kilmore lads came out fighting in the second half and put in an excellent 2nd half performance to win by 1-14 to 2-6. The real battle begins now as Kilmore bid to bring home the Brian King memorial cup. Our opponents in the final which is provisionally fixed for Saturday the 4th of October will either be St Barry's or St Dominic's. Kilmore minor team was Ollie Burke, Daniel Collins, Paul Glancy, Kevin Conlon, Peter Glancy, Joe Garvey, Paul McElhone, Roger Baker Kenny, Jake Feeley, Stephen Gannon, Darragh Feeley, Gary Notley, Cathal Carney, sub used Donal Nevin. The National Automation sponsored U-16 team are due to play St Croans in Enfield on Thursday evening at 6.45pm. The U-16 game against Ballinameen was not played on Sunday as Ballinameen could not field so the game was awarded to Kilmore. The U-16 team are also due to play Kilbride on this Sunday in Kilbride at 12pm. The junior team were defeated on Saturday in the league by a strong Strokestown team. Under age players will be looking for sponsorship in the coming weeks for a sponsored walk coming up and your support would be appreciated for this. Anyone who has not yet purchased a ticket for the club draw is asked to contact any member of the executive as soon as possible. The club wishes Fergal O Donnell the best of luck with his new job of manager of the Roscommon team.
