New trophy for camogie winners
September 19, 2008
The Broadford Camogie Club will proudly host the 2008 Kildare Senior Camogie championship final on this Saturday (20th September) and the occasion will be marked particularly as being in honour of Seán and Annie Conway, both sadly deceased and who gave great service to the game.
The club is sponsoring the new trophy, which will be presented for the first time, and the perpetual trophy will be known as the Sean and Annie Conway Memorial Cup. Seán was President and Chairman of the club as well as being an ardent supporter of Broadford. He also acted as a selector with the county team from 1986 to 1991 and up to the time of his untimely death was a wonderful ambassador for the game. In all his efforts he was greatly supported by his wife Annie.
Members of the Conway family will be in attendance on Saturday continuing the great association with the club. Prior to the senior final, two games will be played in an under-age (under-9) seven-a-side blitz demonstrating the continued encouragement that the club offers to the younger members, an obligation that the late Seán and Annie would be proud of.
