Beirne not upset by bookies' odds
September 19, 2008
Mayo minor football selector Kevin Beirne doesn't believe that the bookies' decision to make Tyrone odds-on favourites to win this Sunday's ESB All-Ireland MFC title will make one jot of a difference to the westerners' determination to succeed.
"We're under no illusions as to the task that faces us on Sunday," said Beirne. "Tyrone are strong favourites but every game is different, especially at minor level.
"We had an extra game with the replay against Kerry and you'd hope every game would improve you.
"Tyrone have had a good passage so far. I saw them play Roscommon and they came good in the second half. They have been scoring highly all year so they have a very slick forward line.
"There has been a lot of talk about Kyle Coney but they have other forwards capable of doing damage and who weighed in with a couple of scores a game."
