O'Shea's Mayo participation in doubt
September 18, 2008
Aidan O'Shea remains a major doubt for Mayo's All-Ireland minor football final showdown with Tyrone, despite being named in manager Ray Dempsey's team on Wednesday.
The Breaffy man, who has been selected at centre forward, will have his injured thumb assessed before a final decision on his participation is made.
"Aidan is getting the cast off his broken thumb before the weekend, and we are hoping he will be able to play. There will be a fitness test at the weekend," Mayo selector Kevin Beirne said.
O'Shea, who has been one of the stars of Mayo's campaign, suffered the injury in the All-Ireland semi-final replay win over Kerry, and has been unable to do any ball work since.
