Mayo wait on O'Shea

Mayo minor football manager Ray Dempsey is sweating on the fitness of star forward Aidan O'Shea ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland final against Tyrone. O'Shea broke a bone in his hand in the semi-final replay win over Kerry at the Gaelic Grounds and hasn't been able to do any ball work since then. But Dempsey insisted that the youngster - who spent the early part of his life in Kerry - will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of the throw-in. "You don't know how preparation really goes until the acid test, and that's the game itself," he said. "We won't know until very late whether Aidan will be available to take part in the game. It will be down to a medical decision, to be honest. There'll be a team named due to programme demands, but we won't know our starting 15 until later in the week." There is better news concerning defenders Kevin Keane and Shane Nally, who have both been passed fit to play. Team captain and wing back Nally damaged ligaments during a club game with the Garrymore minors two weeks ago, but returned to full training last weekend. Full back Keane, who performed a superb man-marking job on Kerry's dangerman Barry John Walsh during their semi-final clashes, has also been given the green light to play after recovering from a knock.
