Kiltale got the better start of the game and held the majority of the possession in the first half, but failed to capitalize on the score board with total of 11 wides during the game this proved to be their downfall. It took Navan O'Mahonys until midway into the first half before the settled and got their first score coming from player of the match Lizzy Oaks. Kiltale had three points up at this stage, coming from Sinead McGroder ,Äì two & Louise Byrne- one. Navan Emma Kinsella took a well taken point from play and this was followed by a point from Kiltale's Jenny Rispin. Paula Cassell & Zoe O'Connor put in a lot of work up front for Navan . Sheila Courtney & Louise Byrne playing well for Kiltale. As much as Kiltale tryed they could not get the passed the Rear guard of Muireann Hogan, Lorna Donegan or Emer Finn. Navan O'Mahonys Lizzy Oaks put over their last score and winner in the 14 minute of the second half , It was sub Helen Lawless for Kiltale who brought them back into the game with a goal n the 23rd minute to leave only appoint between the teams. Their was some good play from Laura Flynn & Cassells who kept Kiltale out. Louise bynre hit wide in the 29th minute, their last chance to equalise, although they did put on the pressure, they ball just failed to do what kiltale wanted it to do and Navan went out with a one point victory and Kiltale will have to do it all again next year. Senior Camogie Championship Final Kilmessan 2-9 Blackhall Gaels 3-7 Half time score : Kilmessan 1-5 Blackhall Gaels 1-5 The Meath Camogie Senior Final proved to be a cracker, Champions for the past three years Kilmessan were dethroned by near neighbours Blackhall Gaels, who having only reached their first Senior Final in their Clubs history, gave Kilmessan everything they were made of to win their First Senior Camogie Title and bring the Fag & O'Regan Cup to Blackhall Gaels . The Game was a ding dong game throughout, with both teams going in at half time on level scores. 1-5 apiece. Kilmessan opened the scoring with a point from Frances Lynch, and Blackhall followed suit immediately with a point from a free . Kilmeesan took their next two points from a placed balls. Ailleen Donnelly was put under pressure from the start by Blackhall Gaels only scorer and deserving player of the Match Jane Dolan, who made tremendous solo runs in on the Kilmessan back line. It was not to long before her efforts played off and with the help of the never say die Jane Burke , Dolan hit the top of the Kilmessan net with the first goal of the senior final. Both teams worked tirelessly up and down the field , Kristina Troy Blackhall Gaels who was in that awkward position of marking her secondary school teacher Sarah Ross during the first half, both players coming out on top of their exchanges on different occasions. Holly Geraghty and Kate Murphy doing Trojan work in the half back line. Dolan put over BHG second point from a free mid way through the second half, and within a minute both Kilmessan's Jenny Cusack & Jane Dolan added a point a piece for their teams. Kilmessan who were prowling around the Blackhall Goal on a number of occasions were kept at bay by the sturdy goal keeping of Emily Mangan and full back Emma Fahy-Whelan. But it was not to long before Kilmessans Jenny Cusack sneaked in their first goal which came with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. Dolan who line up every ball superbley put over a well taken point from a free followed by a lovely point from play, Stephanie Horan kilmessan brought teams level before the interval with a 30 meter free. The last quarter of the second half has to go down as the most exciting finish to a senior camogie final that we have seen in a few years. Kilmessan opened again with Aileen Donnelly securing a point from a free, and it took another ten minutes before Aileen was on the score board with pointed free . Blackhalls Emma Fahy held her teams back line with some fine clearances . Kilmessans Frances Lynch and Karen ward worked hard to keep Kilmessan in Front and deliver ball to their forwards. Mary Ellen Sheridan got in some crucial blocks. But it was Stephanie Horan who used her football skills to find the only way passed goalie Emily Mangan by kicking the ball to the Blackhall net. It was at this stage and with only ten minutes remaining , that Blackhall gaels were awarded a free which Dolan stepped up to take, one might have said take your point but Jane took the shoot , it went in low are fast hit the ground and ended up in the back of the Kilmessan net , the goal of the match that brought Blaclkhall Gaels right back into contention . Kilmessan did not know what hit them, champions for the past three years Kilmessan battled on with Aileen Donnelly putting over from a free. The winner for the Senior Championship p was in the 27th minute when Jane Dolan stepped up to take a free awarded to Kristina Troy which Dolan blasted to the back of the Kilmessan net to give Balckhall Gaels the advantage, after this it was just all Blackhall Gaels, they battled and cleared balls where normal one would expect the experience of the Kilmessan players to clear and follow up field and pop a point over the bar, it was just Blackhalls day they have turned the Senior Championship around and given all clubs a small glimpse of what a club can do when things just go Wright for you . Blackhall Gaels : Emily Mangan, Helen Murphy, Emma Fahy Whelan, Amy Crosbie, Holly Geraghty, Kate Murphy, Claire Burke, Jane Burke, Caroline Griffin, Krinstina Troy, Jane Dolan 3-7, Sinead Hughes, Lauren Lucas, Jamie Jordan, Emer Nolan, Sub Grainne Ennis for Emer Nolan.
