Carr gets the Trap feeling
September 13, 2008
Tipperary Under 21 hurling boss Declan Carr says he felt a bit like Irish soccer boss Giovanni Trapatoni at a press conference during the week to promote Sunday's All-Ireland final clash with Kilkenny.
"I played under 21 in 1985 and won an All-Ireland," said Carr. "It's very hard to compare but the skill level is far superior now because players do more ball work at a younger age and there are better structures in place.
"What has gone out of the game slightly is a little bit of the physicality. It's faster, so you don't get the chance to put in the hits or the tackles.
"But it's a higher profile now too. We were sitting at a top table during the week promoting the final like Giovanni Trapatoni."
