Inter county stars to shoot out for MBNA Kick Fada title

INTER COUNTY STARS TO SHOOT OUT FOR MBNA KICK FADA TITLE Over 20 inter-county Gaelic Football players will shoot out for the MBNA Kick Fada title on Saturday, September 13th in the seventh annual MBNA Kick Fada at Bray Emmets Club, Co Wicklow. Carlow's John Brennan returns to Bray to defend his title but he,Äôll be facing tough competition from Mark Herbert (3 time winner and world record holder), Mark Vaughan of Dublin and many other stars of Gaelic football. Women,Äôs defending champions Irene Munnelly from Meath will also return to defend her title and will be looking to win the competition for a third time. The MBNA Kick Fada competition, football's equivalent of the Poc Fada, determines the champion 'long and accurate kicker' of Gaelic football and will be hosted on the day by RTE's Michael O'Muircheartaigh. Competitors must kick the ball over the bar through specific competition goal posts with distances are measured from the posts to where the ball was kicked.    The champion male and female kickers will receive a Eu1,500 holiday voucher and an MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland medal, with the overall winning kicker receiving the MBNA Kick Fada Champion Trophy.  This will be the ninth annual MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland final and is once more hosted by Bray Emmets GAA Club at their club grounds in Old Conna Avenue, Bray.  The event is free to the public and all are welcome. Entries to the competition are of the highest calibre to date and include; defending champion John Brennan (Carlow), Three time winner and record holder Mark Herbert (Kildare), Padraig Kelly (Offaly), Joe Sheridan (Meath), Mark Vaughan (Dublin) and Marty McGrath (Fermanagh) to name but a few. The competition starts at 12pm in Bray Emmets GAA Club, Old Conna Ave, Bray, Co. Wicklow and admission is free.
