Larkin against Leinster move

September 10, 2008
Kilkenny's Eoin Larkin has confirmed that he is against the proposals of both Antrim and Galway to take part in next year's Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. Larkin, who helped Brian Cody's Black Cats register three All-Ireland titles in-a-row last Sunday in a 23-point drubbing of Waterford, believes that the current provincial kingpins' move to the Leinster would be of no benefit to hurling in the province, but has suggested that it is likely both will be playing in Leinster next year regardless. "I'd be against it myself, Galway or Antrim coming in, because I don't think it's going to do anything for Leinster hurling to bring a Connacht team in. "But the powers that be appear to have decided that, and we just have to get on with it." Meanwhile, All Star bound Joe Canning has disputed the point, saying that the move would see more competitive games come into the province. "We as players would like to move into Leinster," said the Galway full-forward. "We would get more competitive matches and we would learn a lot more about ourselves."
