Backroom call for Counihan's reinstatement

Cork boss Conor Counihan
Cork's backroom staff have called for Conor Counihan's reappointment as senior footballer manager to be made sooner rather than later. Following a players strike from Cork's footballers in the New Year former manager Teddy Holland was forced to vacate his post and with it Counihan was installed as his replacement. Since then, Cork have landed a Munster title as well and reached the last four of this year's All-Ireland series before losing out to Kerry in a replay, officially ending the Aghada clubman's term. However, selector Ger O'Sullivan feels that a quick reinstatement for Counihan by the Cork County Board would be in the best interests for all. "I think the first thing that happen is that the County Board should go away and re-appoint Conor as the manager for the next two seasons," said O'Sullivan. "Then Conor could sit down and decide who his backroom team will be. Conor is a very good appointment. His attention to detail is second to none, and certainly the Cork team would be in very good hands with Conor in charge. "The sooner the County Board re-appoint Conor the better it will be."
